How the clovers sit on the chain

The band alternates between two things. Between the motifs runs a single row of round brilliant stones, each held in its own four-prong link so the run behaves exactly like a fine tennis chain. Set into that run at intervals are quatrefoil clovers, their four lobes filled edge to edge with small pavé stones. Four to five clovers fall around the bracelet, so a motif is always visible whichever way the wrist turns.

Look at a clover from the side and you will see an open gallery beneath it, a fine metal framework rather than a solid back. That openwork lets light reach the pavé from underneath, which is what keeps a small motif bright instead of flat. The closure is a plain polished box clasp with no stones on it at all, with a fold-over safety latch hinged across the top for a second point of security.

About the stones

The stones are cubic zirconia, cut as round brilliants and selected for a colourless white grade rather than the grey cast of cheaper stone. Cubic zirconia scores 8 to 8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, hard enough to hold a crisp polish through everyday wear.

It disperses light more strongly than diamond does, roughly 0.060 against diamond's 0.044, which is why a well-cut cubic zirconia throws bright flashes of colour that catch the eye from across a room. That fire is what makes an iced piece read from a distance.

Care

The plating gives a bright surface that resists tarnishing and keeps its shine with very little effort.

Store your jewellery dry and away from perfume and household cleaners, and a soft polishing cloth will bring the finish straight back. Slipping pieces off before you swim keeps them looking their best.
